The bouquet is austere and leathery with curious aromas of beeswax, vegetable oil and oaky resin. Palate entry is focused on the resin; midpalate is splendidly multilayered and offers elements of black pepper, dried orange blossom, honeysuckle, dried fruit, sage, fennel and confections. Aftertaste is deep and unabashedly sweet and honeyed.

A true Speyside distillery, Aberlour's rich history dates back to 1879 when founder James Fleming chose the perfect location along the River Spey to set up shop. It is here, halfway between Inverness and Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands, where the magic happens. Using the natural spring water that flows down from the Ben Rinnes Mountain and double-cask matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels and Oloroso sherry casks for 16 years, it all comes together to make a beautifully mellow and smooth Scotch whisky. A great sipping whisky bursting with sweet raisin and nutty aromas; floral, sweet plum, and oak notes; and a long warm spicy finish. Best savored neat or with just a dash of water to elevate the flavors.
