The Heavy Vapours is a complex and rich whiskey that is aged for 10 years in oak barrels. The whiskey has a deep amber color and a smoky aroma that is characteristic of Ardbeg’s signature style. The flavor of the whiskey is intense and full-bodied, with notes of peat smoke, dark chocolate, and espresso.
Released as part of Ardbeg Day 2023, the Heavy Vapours Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 92 proof smoke monster described by Ardbeg distillery as “the most full-blown Ardbeg ever”.
Defined by “pungent earthiness, dark chocolate, and sharp peppermint," the distillers removed the purifier connected to the still to impart more smoke in the Heavy Vapours release, which is bottled, non-chill filtered.
A masterful experimental whisky by the Director of Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden of Ardbeg, the Ardbeg 2023 Heavy Vapours offers a heady nose of thick smoke, dark earth, sugar, creosote-coated rope, chocolate, and hints of smoked fish. On the palate are rich layers of bittersweetness, minerals, herbs, mint, and chocolate coffee. A complex, layered, and dramatic dram - this limited-release single malt is a splendid splash of smoky goodness from the first sip to the very last pour!
