Product details
Leclerc Briant, a pioneering Champagne house, embraced organic practices as early as the 1960s and introduced the concept of single-vineyard Champagne in the 1970s. Under the guidance of fifth-generation vigneron Pascal Leclerc, who adopted biodynamic principles in 1988, and currently enologist Hervé Jestin, the estate has continued its innovative legacy. The vineyards span 24.7 acres across Premier Cru and Grand Cru villages in the Vallée de la Marne, Montagne de Reims, and Côte des Blancs, with an additional 19.7 acres under long-term organic farming contracts.
The Brut Réserve Champagne is crafted from a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. It undergoes natural malolactic fermentation, with sulfite levels maintained between 20 and 30 milligrams per liter. The wine is aged for 9 to 11 months in stainless steel tanks, with 20% maturation in oak barrels, and spends over 2 years on the lees in the bottle. Dosage is kept below 4 grams per liter, and the Champagne is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This Champagne offers a rich profile of sweet, blue-black grape skins and soft red fruit, complemented by golden, oxidative notes of butterscotch and white tea. Its aromatic nose features biscuit, shiitake mushrooms, and pink grapefruit blossom, while the palate is fresh and lively with flavors of Key lime zest, ginger, and a touch of astringency and saltiness. It pairs well with rich shellfish and is best enjoyed over the next seven years for its refined elegance.
