Product details
Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, a prestigious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé Class B estate, is renowned for its rich history and powerful wines. Owned by the Becot family for generations, the estate faced a setback in 1986 when it lost its classification due to a family decision to merge vineyards. Determined to regain its status, the family enlisted the help of oenologist Michel Rolland and made significant improvements in winemaking practices, including lowering yields and harvesting at peak ripeness. Within a decade, their efforts paid off, and the estate’s classification was restored, solidifying its place among Saint-Émilion's elite properties.
The 2018 Beau-Séjour Bécot, composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, is a deep garnet-purple wine that bursts with bold aromas of stewed plums, blackberry pie, and Black Forest cake, layered with hints of menthol, mocha, licorice, sage, and lavender. Aged for 16 months—65% in new barriques and 35% in vats, amphorae, and large oak casks—it reveals a full-bodied palate with dark berry preserves, vibrant earthy tones, firm tannins, and seamless freshness, finishing long with a mineral edge.
