Product details
Chateau Capbern, located in the esteemed Saint-Estephe appellation on Bordeaux's Left Bank, shares a rich heritage with its renowned sibling, Chateau Calon Ségur. The estate spans 33 hectares, benefiting from a terroir of sandy and clayey gravel soils atop limestone, which ensures excellent drainage and optimal ripening conditions. The 2017 vintage, crafted under the expertise of Eric Boissenot, showcases the finesse of Saint-Estephe with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (39%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Petit Verdot (3%).
This wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 60% of which are new, after a meticulous manual harvest and fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. The 2017 Capbern displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color with a complex bouquet of baked blackberries, Morello cherries, cassis, fertile loam, unsmoked cigars, and sautéed herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannins, offering a core of black fruit complemented by hints of red fruit on the finish.
