Product details
Chateau d’Armailhac, a Fifth Classified Growth in Pauillac, traces its origins to 1750 when it was known as "Mouton d'Armailhacq." Acquired by the Rothschild family in the 20th century, the estate was restored to its original name in 1989 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. The 70-hectare vineyard is planted in stony gravel soils with clay-limestone subsoils. The 2020 vintage was marked by early budding, a warm spring, and a hot, dry summer, resulting in lower yields but exceptional quality, producing fresh, balanced wines with powerful tannins and remarkable finesse.
This wine showcases a deep red color with subtle purple reflections. The expressive nose blends black fruit aromas with roasted notes, unveiling hints of sour cherries and confectionery. On the palate, it offers a rich, structured attack with ripe fruit, dense blackcurrant, and licorice flavors, all supported by fine tannins. The finish is harmonious, persistent, and marked by a refreshing, continuous freshness.
