Product details
Chateau La Grande Roche, the esteemed second label of Forman Vineyard, reflects the unwavering dedication of winemaker Ric Forman to traditional, artisanal winemaking. Since 1983, Forman has been crafting exceptional wines from his St. Helena estate in Napa Valley, emphasizing meticulous vineyard practices and classical techniques. The 2021 vintage of Chateau La Grande Roche Cabernet Sauvignon exemplifies this commitment, blending 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with 13% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Merlot. Each vine is attentively managed through hand-executed canopy training, leaf removal, and grape thinning, ensuring optimal grape quality. The wine is aged in once-used Bordeaux barrels, previously employed for Forman's primary Cabernet, imparting subtle oak nuances without overshadowing the fruit's character.
This wine presents a deep, dark red hue with brilliant clarity. The nose is greeted with aromas of licorice and currant, complemented by dusty herbal notes intertwined with tobacco and cedar. On the palate, the wine reveals firm tannins and healthy acidity, offering a harmonious balance of power and persistence. The rich flavors of ripe plum and blackberry are accented by hints of tobacco and cedar, creating a complex and satisfying profile. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs exceptionally well with hearty dishes such as grilled beef, lamb, poultry, and game meats like venison. Its robust structure and depth also make it a delightful companion to mature, hard cheeses, enhancing the dining experience with its layered flavors and elegant finish.
