Product details
Clos Cantenac is a small 15-acre Saint-Emilion vineyard with deep gravel, sand, and clay over limestone, purchased in 2007 by Martin Krajewski and Marcus Le Grice. After extensive renovations, including a modern cellar and barrel hall, the vineyard began producing wines in a textured and approachable style. The winemaking process involves careful hand-harvesting, sorting, cold maceration, and fermentation, followed by 18 months of aging in French oak. La Devine, made from ripe Merlot, with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, offers aromas of damson plums, black cherries, and savory spices, with a soft, balanced palate and fresh finish.
The wine’s deep mulberry-cherry hue and rich nose of dried summer berries, flowers, and fine chocolate set the tone for a silky, lifted style on the palate. Dark chocolate and black pepper notes emerge as the wine broadens, supported by supple tannins and a precise finish. While approachable in a few years, La Devine promises stylish drinking when aged for 5 to 10 years. It pairs wonderfully with dishes like duck, foie gras, lamb, and tuna steak, enhancing the dining experience with its complex yet elegant character.
