Product details

Deux Familles Single Cask Grande Champagne Cognac is an extraordinary expression that epitomizes the pinnacle of cognac craftsmanship. Sourced from the esteemed Grande Champagne region, renowned for producing the finest eaux-de-vie, this cognac originates from a batch distilled in 1952 and acquired in 2012 from the notable winegrower, Mr. Julien André. At the time of purchase, the cognac had already matured for six decades. To further enhance its complexity, it was aged for an additional 12 years in an 80-year-old French Limousin oak cask within a damp cellar environment, allowing it to reach an unparalleled depth of character. This meticulous aging process was conducted without the addition of sugar or caramel, ensuring the preservation of its authentic and pure profile.

In the glass, this remarkable cognac displays a luminous amber hue with golden highlights. The nose is greeted with an intricate bouquet of bitter orange, candied fruits, and roasted pineapple, interwoven with nuances of Virginia tobacco and cigar box aromas. Subtle oxidative notes of mellow tannins, hazelnut, and walnut contribute to its distinguished rancio character, while delicate berry undertones of blackcurrant leaf and raspberry add further complexity. On the palate, it delivers an exuberant and highly concentrated experience, featuring exotic fruit flavors such as pineapple and passion fruit, seamlessly transitioning into rich notes of Dominican tobacco, sultanas, and hints of Sauternes wine. The finish is marked by an acidic rancio quality reminiscent of exceptional aged rums, leaving a lasting impression. This cognac is best savored neat or with a few drops of water to fully appreciate its intricate layers. It pairs exquisitely with fine cigars, dark chocolate, and aged cheeses, making it a distinguished choice for the most discerning connoisseurs.
