The Glenmorangie Calvados Cask Finish is the latest release in the Barrel Select series, marking the distillery's first whisky finished in French Calvados casks. This small-batch 12-year-old single malt showcases the harmonious blend of fruity and floral notes, a signature of Glenmorangie’s style. Under the guidance of Dr. Bill Lumsden, the whisky was initially aged for over 10 years in American white oak bourbon casks before being transferred into Calvados du Pays d’Auge casks, which had matured apple brandy for 20 years. This careful process imparts new layers of mellow depth, intertwining the whisky with the essence of baked apples, pears, jasmine, and narcissus.
Bright gold in color, this whisky offers a fragrant aroma of baked apples, pears, vanilla, and almond, with subtle hints of jasmine, narcissus, and heather honey. The palate reveals a rich and oily mouthfeel, bursting with sweet flavors of baked pears, toffee apple, almond marzipan, and chocolate praline, complemented by star anise, lemon balsam, eucalyptus, and a touch of charcoal. The finish is long and lingering, with a slightly cooling sensation, leaving a lasting impression of this unique and beautifully crafted whisky.
