Domaine Philippe et Vincent Lécheneaut, situated in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, has been crafting exceptional wines since the late 1950s. Founded by Fernand Lécheneaut, the estate began with a modest 2.5 hectares of vineyards across Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Morey-Saint-Denis. In 1986, his sons, Philippe and Vincent, assumed control, expanding the domaine to 12 hectares encompassing approximately twenty appellations, including esteemed Premiers Crus. Their meticulous approach involves hand-harvesting grapes in small baskets, destemming, and fermenting on skins with gentle pump-overs for the initial ten days. The wines are then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, with 80% sourced from Francois Frères, and 30% undergoing whole bunch fermentation, resulting in wines that exude expressive and sumptuous Pinot Noir characteristics.
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée from Domaine Lécheneaut showcases a deep, rich color and an inviting nose of ripe cherries, blackberries, and subtle spices. On the palate, it offers an intense blend of red and black mulled fruits, menthol, spice, coffee, and raspberry, culminating in a long, even finish. The wine's refined tannins and balanced acidity make it a versatile companion to a variety of dishes, including grilled or roasted pork, veal in sauce, roast poultry, and game birds. This Vosne-Romanée embodies the elegance and depth characteristic of the appellation, promising a rewarding experience for discerning palates.
