Product details

Piper-Heidsieck Rare Champagne Brut 2013 is a testament to the Maison's dedication to crafting exceptional Champagnes that embody both tradition and innovation. This vintage is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, sourced from 11 crus, predominantly from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs regions. The 2013 growing season presented challenges, with a cold winter and spring followed by a warm, dry summer interspersed with storms. A sudden shift to cooler, windy conditions in September delayed the harvest until October, resulting in grapes that contributed to the wine's distinctive character.

In the glass, Rare Millésime 2013 displays a luminous golden hue with fine effervescence. The nose unfolds in stages, beginning with delicate white floral notes, hints of black tea, and accents of citrus fruits like kiwi and kumquat. As it evolves, aromas of lime blossom, green tea, and fern emerge, followed by white fruits such as greengage plum. Subtle touches of chestnut honey, sweet spices, vanilla, and marzipan enrich the bouquet. On the palate, the Champagne is both silky and vibrant, offering flavors of meringue, whipped cream, and almond paste, balanced by fresh citrus tones. The finish is aromatic and slightly smoky, marked by lively acidity and refined bitterness. This vintage pairs exquisitely with seafood platters, roasted scallops accompanied by kumquats and pomegranate with coriander, seabass tartare with kiwi and cucumber, or Saint-Pierre ceviche with pomegranate, olive oil, and lemon. For a vegetarian option, a lentil daal with yogurt and mint condiment complements its complexity. A refreshing lemon sorbet serves as an ideal dessert pairing.
