Product details
Since its founding in 1724, Urakasumi Sake Brewery has been operated by the Saura family, with the current leadership under the 13th president, Koichi Saura. The name "Urakasumi," meaning "Misty Bay," draws inspiration from a classical poem celebrating the arrival of spring and the serene beauty of Shiogama Bay, where the brewery is located. Dedicated to crafting sake that embodies this poetic image, Urakasumi focuses on producing a "classic and elegant" beverage. Utilizing finely polished rice fermented at low temperatures with their proprietary yeast, the brewery creates a sake that offers a rich umami flavor, balanced taste, and a smooth, refined mouthfeel. The brewing techniques, passed down through the Nanbu Toji Guild, combine traditional methods with innovative practices, ensuring a consistently high-quality product.
Urakasumi Genshu, with its solid alcohol presence and dense green apple aroma, offers a smooth and rich drinking experience. The fruity notes lend a soft and smooth impression, making it an excellent match for hearty dishes like an oily nabe or steak. This sake is versatile, enjoyable both at room temperature and on the rocks. Its unique packaging, featuring a striking gold design, further sets it apart. The flavor profile is rich and full-bodied, with aromas of vanilla, honey, and green apple that carry through to the palate, where the higher alcohol content adds to its smooth and luxurious texture. Perfectly paired with indulgent foods like foie gras, blue cheese, or a robust steak, Urakasumi Genshu is a sake that complements rich and flavorful meals.
