Product details
Single Cask Nation, established in 2011 by whisky enthusiasts Joshua Hatton and Jason Johnstone-Yellin, has garnered acclaim as an independent bottler dedicated to releasing unique and limited single cask spirits. Their portfolio spans a diverse range of whiskies and other spirits, reflecting their commitment to quality and individuality. In 2024, Single Cask Nation joined the Artisanal Spirits Company family, which includes the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and J.G. Thomson, further solidifying their position in the industry.
One notable release is the Single Cask Nation 2011 10-Year-Old Inchgower Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This expression is a marriage of two casks—one a refill bourbon barrel and the other a first-fill Oloroso hogshead—both distilled in late 2011 and bottled in October 2022, yielding a limited run of approximately 430 bottles at 54.5% ABV. The whisky presents a warm amber hue and an inviting nose of barley sugar, dried apricots, golden raisins, orange blossom honey, and hints of dried tobacco leaf. On the palate, it offers an oily texture with initial sweetness reminiscent of licorice and fondant, transitioning to spicy notes of cigar box and ground ginger, culminating in a drying oak finish with lingering spice and subtle licorice undertones. This expression pairs exceptionally well with rich, savory dishes such as roasted lamb or beef stew, and complements aged cheeses, enhancing the whisky's complex flavors.
