Product details
Tesseron Cognac, founded in 1905 by Abel Tesseron, is renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to producing rare and prestigious cognacs. The family's estate, located in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, boasts a unique 12th-century crypt cellar, originally part of a monk's priory, providing an ideal environment for aging their exquisite eaux-de-vie. The Tesseron Extreme Rare Cognac exemplifies the house's commitment to quality, blending eaux-de-vie from the esteemed Grande Champagne region. This exceptional cognac is meticulously crafted from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard grapes, undergoing double distillation in small coal-heated copper pot stills. The resulting spirit is aged for over three generations in prized Limousin oak barrels, known as "Tierçons," before being transferred to glass demijohns to perfect the aging process in the "Paradis" cellar.
Upon tasting, Tesseron Extreme Rare Cognac reveals a velvety and supple palate, showcasing exceptional mellowness and an infinitely complex depth. The extended aging process imparts a harmonious rancio nose, releasing waves of secondary aromas that intensify, culminating in a finish of incomparable softness. While cognac is traditionally enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its intricate flavors, it can also be paired with fine dark chocolates or a selection of aged cheeses, enhancing the tasting experience. The rarity of this cognac is underscored by its limited production, with only 300 decanters produced annually, each presented in a 1.75-liter "dame-jeanne," reminiscent of the vessels used to store the finest eaux-de-vie. This exquisite presentation and the cognac's unparalleled quality make it a true collector's item and a testament to Tesseron's storied legacy.
