The 14-year-old Balvenie American Bourbon Barrel is part of the new Curious Cask Collection series, born from the collaboration between Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Samples Coordinator George Paterson. This series follows the successful Revelation of Cask and Character collection, with unpeated malt that was milled, mashed, fermented, and distilled to create a unique spirit. The whisky was influenced by the distillation of the Week of Peat series, imparting a subtle smokiness before being aged for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, resulting in a distinctive aroma and flavor profile.
On the nose, this whisky offers a velvety sweetness intertwined with rich toffee and glowing oak, highlighted by crisp citrus and Balvenie's signature honey notes. The palate reveals candied orange peel complemented by woody, earthy hints of roasted malt, deep vanilla, and oak. The finish is long-lasting, leaving a memorable impression of this expertly crafted whisky.
