Very deep purple-black in color, the Colgin 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard leaps from the glass with vibrant black cherries, warm blackberries and blackcurrant scents with hints of violets, dark chocolate, lavender.
From a magnum, this lighter styled Schrader was medium bodied, mature and served up its sweet, fresh, bright, dark red cherry and earthy profile, with ease. This is not a wine that needs decanting or further aging.
The wine’s round tannins and creamy texture envelop the familiar flavors of fresh cherries with a touch of dark chocolate. This polished and age-worthy wine simultaneously offers a satiny finish and a slight grip of tannin at the close.
A moderately deep garnet, the 2003 Opus One offers aromas of blackberry, plum, hazelnut, graphite, olive oil, cocoa and dried cherries. The wine presents a soft entry with rich, flannel-like tannins supporting a sweetness and purity of balance.
The aromas in this wine reflect wonderfully ripe cabernet, when the fruit tastes of near-perfect ripeness, Currants and flowers, such as roses, together with green strawberries and black licorice.
